Rocks and Minerals Identification

Students will explore how to use the physical characteristics of rocks to group and identify rocks. They will learn how to use rock exploration and identification tools including shovels, sieves, microscopes, hand lenses, scratch plates, magnets, and diluted HCl in order to identify unknown rocks. They will also learn the basics about how to collect and organize data about rocks.
